Lyell Montgomery

Mr. Montgomery provides human resource consulting and outplacement services to individuals and businesses in the tri-state area. He has over 27 years of human resource experience.

Prior to becoming a partner at PeopleFirst HR Solutions and acting as a consultant for Lee Hecht Harrison, Lyell was Human Resource Director for Gateway Foods, Inc., a privately held wholesale grocery distribution company with over 8,500 employees nationwide.  Lyell remained in the human resource management position following Scrivner’s acquisition of Gateway Foods and, subsequently, Fleming’s acquisition of Scrivner.  He has experience and knowledge regarding the impact of acquisitions on an organization’s employees and culture, and he provided leadership for the organization during these transitions.  Lyell taught social studies and history at the secondary school level for six years prior to beginning his career in human resource management.

 Lyell has been involved in numerous community organizations including: member of the Society of Human Resource Management, member of the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce, Intercultural Network Committee, member of the La Crosse County Board, past president of the Onalaska Rotary Club, past chairman of the La Crosse United Way Planning Committee, past member of the La Crosse Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors and past secretary of the Hixon Forest Nature center. 

Lyell received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
