Position Overview

This position will report to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate will function as the General Superintendent for all projects. This will include coordination of all phases of construction projects, including ensuring adequate manpower and equipment are available, managing job site safety ensuring compliance with all safety, health and environmental quality standards, and that work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The successful candidate will provide input, assist with and provide review during the bidding and budgeting process. This position will be based out of the La Crosse, WI office.

Education and Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, project management or a related field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience managing construction projects is preferred. An Associate’s Degree in construction management, project management or a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.  A demonstrated history of a safety first attitude and a commitment to creating safer construction sites is required. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel frequently by vehicle and airplane.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Participate as needed in weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate work
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution
  • Conduct at least weekly inspections of local construction sites and conduct inspections of remote construction sites as needed
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to maintain strict adherence to quality control and safety standards
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health and environmental quality standards and work with Superintendent and subcontractors to put corrective procedures in place
  • Responsible for the coordination, maintenance and procurement of tools and equipment including construction vehicles while managing the annual budget and establishing a plan for long term capital purchases
  • Serve as the contact with unions on manpower requirements and to resolve any union relations issues
  • Conduct new employee orientation for field personnel
  • Ensure project safety documents are complete
